Meet Your Instructor
I could sit here and reel off a whole load of postnominals and reasons why I teach - but the most important one is this: I know what it’s like to want more for your patients.
I was the nurse trying to get my patients eating without feeling like I could ask for a feeding tube. I was the nurse doing CPR on an IMHA patient on the floor at 7am having no idea why they crashed (without a vet in the building - yes, that happened) and then wondering what I missed.
I learned more through 10 years working as a specialised medicine nurse - and then wanted to save every other nurse the years of hard work. So, I took the most important bits I had picked up along the way, and poured them into the Academy.
But, if you (or your clinic!) want those ‘official’ reasons, I’m a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Small Animal Medicine, a diploma and degree-holder in Advanced Veterinary Nursing, a RACE-approved course provider, and I’m currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Education, Leadership and Mentoring.
More importantly, though? I’m a human being and a practising RVN, just like you, who wants to give the best care she can.

Why I Created the Medical Nursing Academy
I wanted to create a space for veterinary nurses and technicians to come together, learn about medicine in an easy-to-understand way, and turn that knowledge into even better patient care while also boosting their job satisfaction!

Any student or qualified veterinary nurse, technician, or paraprofessional (or veterinary surgeon/vet student) can access the academy’s on-demand webinar library.
The library contains an ever-growing collection of standalone webinars and workshops to help you learn more about a specific topic. Each is £21 or less (ex UK/EU VAT) and designed to help you give better care quickly and easily, without committing to a full-length course.

The Foundation Award in Medical Nursing is for qualified/registered (or equivalent) veterinary nurses, technicians and paraprofessionals working in practice (GP or referral).
There are stricter entry requirements for the Advanced Award in Medical Nursing. More information will be announced on this soon.

I pride myself on making the academy awards in medical nursing as accessible as possible. The curriculum and the monthly treatment room calls are available in written, audio podcast, and video format.

Yes! Most students have their clinic cover the cost of their academy course via their CPD/CE budget.
Depending on your location, I may also be able to invoice the clinic directly - please complete this form to request an invoice.

Once you sign up, you've got one year to complete the course, submit your case study, and unlock and enjoy the Practical Skills Lab.
An alumni option is available if you’d like to keep studying with us after you graduate!
The on-demand curriculum is designed to give you all the information you need in quick, easy, bite-size lessons - without adding tons to your overflowing to-do list!
Each module should take 3-4 hours to complete. Work through them at your own pace, as quickly or slowly as you'd like! I recommend doing one a month at minimum, as this leaves you six months to submit your case study and refer back to the course materials if you need to.

Not at all! The sessions are recorded and the recordings are available to watch on-demand.

Yes! The Foundation Award is RACE approved by the Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB), Veterinary Nurses’ Council of Australia (VNCA) and Veterinary College of Ireland (VCI), meaning you can use the hours towards your licensing and towards VTS applications and recertifications.
